Apricus Townhouse Solar Hot Water System

The Apricus Townhouse System provides townhouses with guaranteed hot water, whatever the weather, using back-up energy sources when required. This system is compact enough to fit on the smallest townhouse roof, delivering a sustainable solution for an increasing building type. 

The complete system will provide at least 75% of the annual hot water use for a townhouse, while hot water is always guaranteed with the Apricus smart controller.

Apricus Solar Hot Water Systems significantly reduce the environmental impact, energy use and cost of domestic hot water, and can make a significant contribution to Homestar and Greenstar points (EHC-5 & ENE-1). 

System includes:

  • Apricus ETC solar collector
  • Anodised aluminium frame — flat to roof or angled
  • Apricus solar controller — includes boost control
  • Grundfos solar pump — 30 watts maximum
  • Solar rated pipework, insulation, flashings and fittings
  • Optional integration with other water heaters — central heating boiler, wetback, gas instantaneous

Scope of Use
  • Apricus Townhouse Solar Hot Water System is suitable for any house that will be a permanent dwelling, providing at least three quarters of annual hot water directly from the sun
  • The system is designed for individual homes
  • No need for separate batteries and control systems
  • Mounting and fixing details for all roof materials and pitches
  • Easy integration with other heating sources such as wetback fires, central heating boiler, gas instantaneous water heater

Limitations on Use
  • The system is less suited for occasionally occupied dwellings, such as baches and homes with extended summer absence. These properties will not benefit as much from the savings associated with regular hot water use
  • The system will require an area of unshaded roof between 10am and 3pm
  • Alternate designs are available from Apricus for multiple residential buildings, apartments and commercial buildings
