Fall protection systems are crucial for large industrial and commercial buildings, ensuring safe access to roofs and facades for ongoing maintenance. The Patrol Lifeline System by Rothoblaas ticks all the boxes for a durable, safe and compliant fall protection solution — all while bringing added benefits thanks to its excellent spanning capacity.
Applications
The Patrol Lifeline System is designed to ensure maintenance staff can safely walk around the roof of a building to access gutters, HVAC units and the roof and facade for maintenance and cleaning. It is a smart, compliant option for commercial and industrial buildings, including schools, hospitals, office buildings, factories and industrial facilities.
The system can be installed on a range of substrates, including timber, steel and concrete substrates, and membrane roofs — and even comes with an option to be configured overhead to limit potential fall factor to zero.
Key performance benefits
Superior spanning capacity minimises penetrations
The Patrol system features shock absorbing technology which enables all configurations to achieve an impressive spanning capacity of 15 metres between intermediate supports. This reduces the number of penetrations to roofing materials and provides greater flexibility of placement, helping to avoid penetration of back flashings.
The greater spanning capacity also enables much faster installation time and improves the overall cost-efficiency of the system — without compromising on quality or safety.
Versatile design and fixing options
The Patrol Lifeline System is a versatile solution which can be configured with different support and fixing options to suit different substrates and roof designs.
The tower support is commonly used for membrane roofs, while the shield support is ideal for trapezoidal metal roofs as it can clamp to folding seams. For buildings with a steel framework, the system can even be mounted directly.
Designed to withstand the harshest of environments
All components are manufactured using A2 or A4 Stainless Steel to ensure the system’s strength and integrity will not deteriorate over time in even the harshest of environments — an important consideration when selecting a system that will be suitable for the lifetime of the building.
The different configurations of the Patrol system are certified to the highest industry standards for height safety, including AS/NZS1891.2:2001, AS/NZS1891.4:2009 and AS/NZS5532:2013.
Design support
From initial design right through to supplying the project for installation, Rothoblaas supports designers to meet their client’s needs and budgets, whatever they may be.
The Rothoblaas team works closely with architects to consult on the access and safety needs of their project to ensure NZBC compliance. This includes developing bespoke solutions where needed to suit the needs of any design. In addition, they have a full library of detailed drawings in various formats, to help simplify the specification and detailing process.
The Rothoblaas team provide full roof layouts and have a network of quality assured height system installers to ensure expert installation of the systems.
History of use
The Patrol Lifeline System has been extensively implemented throughout New Zealand’s commercial and industrial sectors, saving time for installers while ensuring safe and compliant maintenance access for building owners.
Warranty and maintenance
The Rothoblaas Patrol lifeline system has a material warranty of 10 years from the date of purchase. Following AS/NZS1891.4 requirements for fall arrest systems, the system requires 12-monthly inspections by a height safety equipment inspector.
