Multistop
Description

Multistop is a specifically formulated plasterboard that provides fire, impact, sound and water resistance. It is suitable for use in situations where a multi-performance board is required.

Scope of Use

Multistop is suitable for use in all commercial and residential situations provided that its specification and installation is in accordance with USG Boral Plasterboard Installation Manual – NZ.

It is suitable for installation on framed walls, where the building design falls within the design scope of NZS3604, or AS/NZS1170.

Where Multistop is to be installed in an existing building, the installer must assure themselves that the framing and existing building are suitable for the proposed building work.

Limitations on Use

The specification of Multistop 4 must be in accordance with USG Boral information. It must be specified by an LBP, able to provide a design memorandum to the relevant Building Consent Authority (BCA), if RBW provisions apply. Installation must be undertaken by or supervised by an LBP (carpentry license). If RBW provisions apply, this same LBP must complete the RBW memorandum.

Multistop 4 should not be exposed to sustained temperatures exceeding 42°C or to excessive, repetitive or continuous moisture before, during or after installation. All sources of moisture should be eliminated immediately.

Statement of Building Code Compliance

Multistop 4 plasterboard complies with the following performance criteria of the NZ Building Code:

  • B1.3.1. Evidence: In respect of building element.
  • B1.3.2. Evidence: Manufactured in accordance with AS/NZS2588.
  • B1.3.3 (a, b, c, f, j, l, o, r). Evidence: Impact ASTM E695-75.
  • B1.3.4 (a, b, c, e). Evidence: Panel performance ASTM E72-80.
  • C3.4. (a). Evidence: Material Group No 1-S.
  • F2.3.1. Evidence: Manufactured in accordance with AS/NZS2588.

When installed Multistop will contribute to compliance with the following performance criteria of the NZ Building Code:

  • B2.3.1 (a), B2.3.2. Evidence: In service history.
  • C6.2. Evidence: FCO-1045, FCO-1360 EWFA 27211-00.
  • G6.3.1. Evidence: RT&A TE405-05F02.
Other Performance Attributes
  • Fire: Fire Multistop is a non-combustible building product. Multistop achieves a material Group 1-S depending on finished coating applied (BRANZ Assessment FAR4435).
    Multistop achieves fire resistance depending on the fire rated systems application (Exova Warrington AS1530.4:2005 report # 27211-00). Where relevant, 13mm Multistop is a substitute for 13mm Wet Area Firestop and 13mm Firestop.
  • Acoustic: Multistop, may be used in an acoustic system to provide required levels of sound insulation to achieve specified acoustic ratings.
