Sustainable Drainage Solution for Basement Car Park Ramp at Orakei Luxury Apartments

Designed by +MAP Architects, 22 Karori is a luxury apartment building situated on the Auckland city fringe overlooking Waitemata Harbour towards Devonport. With sustainability and energy efficiency at the core of +MAP’s designs, the innovative building is designed to be lived in, and loved, by generations to come.

Allproof’s 300mm clear opening commercial channel was selected for its sustainability, product performance and durability features.

The channel is installed on the ramp to the underground carpark and within the carpark itself. As water travels down the carpark ramp it gathers speed, water can hydraulically bridge narrow slot drain openings. The 300mm clear opening of CC300 provides a wide channel for catchment of fast flowing surface water.

On the ramp itself the heelproof cast iron (HCI) grate has been selected providing a highly durable solution with a class D load rating for wheel loads up to 8,000kg (AS3996) and slip resistant level (AS4586) of P5. The architectural 316 grade stainless steel Wedge Wire grate was selected for within the carpark.
