Stacking Cavity Sliders Enable Flexible Use of Space in Childcare Centres

CS For Doors supplied CS OvertakingDoors cavity sliders for two new BestStart childcare centres in Auckland. The indoor environments have been designed to support the learning and development of different age groups — infants, toddlers and preschool. The large stacking door systems enable the flexibility to easily open up or close off the large central spaces as required.

CS OvertakingDoors systems allow a series of doors (up to five) to stack side-by-side inside the pocket in the wall. This allows the width of the door opening to be maximised without requiring a large wall space either side of the opening.

The CS NewYorker door leaf was used for both centres. These doors work well with the OvertakingDoors system and the doors are connected so that there is no need for floor tracks or guides through the opening.

Clear glass has been fitted to the doors, allowing natural light flow and visibility for staff. The door frames are powder coated to complement the rest of the interior and fitted with custom finish CL400 Magnetic handles which can be latched closed if required.

A number of standard cavity sliders were also supplied for the bathrooms and sleep areas. The addition of vision panels in the doors and CaviLock CL200 handles fitted higher than usual on the door ensure suitability for the location.

Clause B1 Structure: Performance B1.3.1, B1.3.2 and B1.3.4. CS Cavity Sliders meet the requirements for loads arising from self-weight, earthquake, wind and impact [i.e. B1.3.3 [a], [f], [h] and [j]].
Clause B2 Durability: Performance B2.3.1 [a], not less than 50 years, [b], 15 years and [c], 5 years. CS Cavity Sliders meet these requirements.
Clause F2 Hazardous Building Materials: Performance F2.3.1. CS Cavity Sliders meet this requirement and will not present a health hazard to people.
