Curved Walls Add to Building Elegance at Sonata Apartments

Sonata Apartments, Auckland is a stunningly outstanding, ultra high-end, five-level apartment building located in St. Heliers — recently completed in December 2022 by CMP Construction.

One of the stand-out features of this building are the large curved solid and glass walls, which provide smooth finishing lines around the building edges, whilst allowing for panoramic views across the Hauraki Gulf, including Rangitoto Island.

While the luxury curved glass was imported from overseas, the internal solid walls were built-up on-site by interiors contractors, EI Build. The walls are neatly encapsulated, with installation of 92mm SRP steel studs at narrow 150-200mm fixing centres, into the (1.15BMT Galv. Steel) SRP Curv-E Track (all manufactured and supplied locally in Auckland).

SRP Curv-E Track is a two-piece track system which is suitable for use with any stud size. It has a longer (50mm) leg than standard bottom/floor track (which is 30mm); this provides extra rigidity, and more allowance for fixing of skirting and trims than standard floor track.

The Curv-E Track is designed to provide more flexibility in the design of internal steel stud walls/ partitions. The installation is typically carried out by an interior or fit-out contractor who can bend this Curv-E Track (on-site) to the required ‘Curve radius’ or ‘S-bend’ and fix in-place accordingly.

SRP Curv-E Track is a 2-piece split track designed for use in curved internal walls.

The SRP Curv-E track system is designed for use internally, in buildings where curved walls are designed/required — as opposed to straight walls. The Curv-E Track can be integrated to allow smooth transition from curved to straight-run walls.
