High-Quality Full-Car and Open Lifts for Use with Low Pitch Roofing

Powerglide Elevators run on their own, self-supporting rails, with the entire lifting mechanism accommodated between the rails. This also eliminates the need to strengthen the ceiling rafters or construct a specially engineered, hard-wearing shaft.

Architects and designers may often assume that a water-driven platform lift is the only option for low or flat-roofed buildings, however, these typically have limitations with regard to speed, safety features, stability of ride, and styling.

In a Powerglide Elevator, the highest part of the structure is the rail mechanism, which runs approximately 2.3m above the top floor. In addition, the lift machinery, rather than being above the lift car, is housed in a plant room that can be situated up to 12 metres from the lift shaft. This provides flexibility of design in difficult spaces or where the lift will be used as a central feature of the building’s design.

The unique Powerglide mechanism means that both open-style and cabin lifts can be used, providing aesthetics and a user experience appropriate for even top-end builds. Powerglide’s affordable Pre-Designed Elevator range has 11 decor choices, allowing designers to select styling that is complementary to the building’s interior design. A fully bespoke design service is also available, accommodating glass lift shafts, unusual shapes, and completely individualised styling.

Powerglide Elevators’ hydraulic drive mechanism delivers superior 9-second floor-to-floor speed*, a ride that is smooth and stable, and industry-leading safety features including an electronic safety curtain and safe exit in a power-cut.

Powerglide's design engineers will support you to design the lift shaft with expert technical help and drawings in all common CAD formats that provide precise size and layout details, and cross-check the plans to ensure everything will work smoothly. Lifts are manufactured to spec in Powerglide's Tauranga factory, providing the flexibility to accommodate changes should this become necessary part-way through the process. Powerglide's integrated Design-Build-Install service gives you the reassurance of working with one team at all stages of the process.

* Speed based on standard residential floor height.
