Spectrum Offers Bespoke Balustrade Solution for Retirement Block

The Edinburgh Street Retirement Units in Pukekohe are a prime example of modern apartment living. This project covered a number of apartment buildings built in close proximity to each other in an urban environment. As housing density increases, so does the requirement for screens to provide privacy to residents.

Spectrum's Clearspan slat balustrade is an ideal custom solution for solving privacy issues. The 'Clearspan' system is an adaptable, modular system that allows for various infills including vertical or horizontal slats, glass and balusters. When used with slats, the system can be customised with different slat widths and spacing to suit the required privacy level, aesthetic and performance required.

To ensure compliance with resource consent, Spectrum worked closely with the architectural firm and main contractor to provide the required percentage opening in the balustrade and screens. To meet this requirement, 115mm wide slats with narrow spacing were used. The benefit of the Clearspan system is clear to see in the quality of the installed product. The full height privacy screens connect between levels flawlessly with concealed fixings, providing a high class finish. The vertical slats continue down past the floor level to conceal the balcony concrete floor.

The client was very happy with the end result which delivered a compliant, attractive solution that blended privacy, safety and style. The powder coated aluminium provides a low maintenance solution, which means residents will be guaranteed years of hassle free living in attractive and private surroundings.
