Kirimoko Tiny House Features Low Maintenance Futurewood Decking

In 2018, Barry Condon, from Condon Scott Architects in Wanaka, was approached by a client to help them build their dream home. They had chosen to live in a small house after a cycle trip and a life lived out of panniers. With that in mind, they built a 1 bedroom home with a 30m² footprint.

The idea was to build a compact, yet sophisticated and modern house that was still big enough to live in comfortably. Their focus was to invest in extra features that would allow them to live hassle free for many years to come.

Futurewood Composite Decking was chosen for their outdoor area, which ended up being wider than the house, at 40m². The external area, where Futurewood is featured, enables them to enjoy the outdoors all year long as well as connecting the home to a single-car garage.

Slate Grey was the colour chosen for this project, which complements the rest of the house beautifully.

By choosing Futurewood for their decking area, the owners not only have a low maintenance deck, they also have the peace of mind that their deck will last as it includes a 15 year, 100% replacement warranty.

The tiny house has won several awards including Winner of the "NZIA 2019 Southern Architecture Housing Award" and a "Bronze Award — 2019 DINZ Best Awards".

Condon Scott Architects is an award-winning, Wanaka-based practice — it has completed over 600 residential and commercial projects in the Otago region over the past 30 years.
