DriSpace Pre Cladding Systems That Help Buildings Dry

Moisture can enter wall and roof systems through construction moisture, weather exposure, minor water ingress, air leakage and internal humidity. The concern is not simply that moisture enters, but that it becomes trapped. Without a defined drying pathway, this can contribute to mould growth, timber degradation, and reduced durability.

DriSpace pre-cladding systems address this by achieving airtightness through a simplified, externally applied approach, while incorporating passive ventilation pathways that allow water vapour to exit.

A system approach to high performance envelopes

DriSpace integrates ProctorPassive airtight wraps, DriStud vapour-permeable underlays, and VENT passive ventilation systems into a cohesive pre-cladding strategy. The result is an envelope that is airtight, weather resistant, vapour permeable, and capable of drying outward.

DriSpace airtight solutions: Airtightness simplified with Wraptite SA and UV SA

Externally applied peel and stick wraps such as ProctorPassive Wraptite SA and Wraptite UV-SA create a continuous airtight layer across the façade, reducing reliance on multiple taped joints and improving constructability.

Their high vapour permeability allows moisture within the structure to diffuse outward, supporting drying of the wall assembly. This is particularly useful over rigid air barriers, including concrete substrates, where the wrap can protect the structure from weather exposure during construction while still allowing residual moisture to dry.

Case Study: 0.25 ACH with Wraptite SA without an Internal Vapour Control Layer

A recent standalone residential project in Auckland CBD achieved 0.25 ACH airtightness using Wraptite SA over rigid air barriers to both walls and roof. This externally applied approach removed the need for an internal vapour control layer on the wall, as the wrap allowed moisture within the structure to diffuse outward rather than becoming trapped. The result is simplified airtightness and a dry, warm, high-performing building envelope.

DriSpace passive ventilation systems — VENT NZ, a proven approach

DriSpace has partnered with VENT NZ for over a decade, supplying passive ventilation solutions in New Zealand. While airtightness improves energy efficiency, ventilated cavities and passive roof ventilation remain essential. VENT systems create airflow pathways that allow moisture-laden air to exit, reducing the risk of condensation and long-term material degradation.

DriSpace supports passive ventilation systems with a dedicated moisture management design guide, a system-based approach, and a systems warranty.
