Elevating Hygiene Standards: Multicube Bathroom Cubicles at Auckland University

In a recent upgrade of its campus facilities, Auckland University selected Resco’s Multicube Cubicle System to meet the institution’s high standards for hygiene, durability, and aesthetics. The project required a solution robust enough to withstand high foot traffic, while also supporting streamlined maintenance and delivering a clean, modern appearance across student amenities.

To meet these performance requirements, Auckland University specified the Multicube system — a cantilevered design fixed to the back wall with no floor or ceiling connections. This floating configuration not only enhances the architectural appeal of the space but also significantly improves hygiene outcomes by allowing full floor access for cleaning.

Each cubicle is constructed from 13mm compact laminate, a solid-core material that is impervious to water, highly impact-resistant, and engineered to perform in wet, high-use environments. The rebated doors and minimalist lines provide a sleek, modern aesthetic while enhancing user privacy.

The Multicube system is suitable for both toilet and shower applications, making it a versatile option for diverse facility requirements. Panels were made out of Resco’s Antibac compact laminate, which incorporates antimicrobial protection that actively kills bacteria for the lifetime of the panel — a critical feature for reducing cross-contamination in shared university spaces.

For added design flexibility, Resco offers New Zealand’s largest range of stocked and designer compact laminate colours, with 28 colours readily available and 20 additional designer finishes. For this project, M10600 Brick Red and M10905 Designer Spearmint Green were selected — helping to achieve the  modern aesthetic the university envisioned for its upgraded facilities. All panels are backed by a 10-year panel integrity warranty, ensuring long-term reliability.

With performance, hygiene, and design all front-of-mind, Auckland University’s selection of the Resco Multicube system reflects its commitment to creating durable, hygienic, and aesthetically considered spaces that will serve students and staff well into the future.
