Beam 16 is a high-strength glue-laminated (glulam) timber beam, manufactured by Hyne Timber exclusively for IBuilt and the New Zealand market.
Strength properties
Hyne’s Glulam beams are renowned for their strength and durability. This is achieved by bonding multiple layers of high-grade Slash Pine (Pinus Eliottii) with structural grade adhesives. All Hyne products are manufactured to meet the requirements of AS/NZS 1328.1:1998.
Strength testing is carried out in-house and assessed by an independent testing program, which is validated by the Engineered Wood Products Association of Australasia (EWPAA). Beam 16 carries ‘S’ mark certification.
Precambered for performance
A defining feature of Beam 16 is its integrated camber, set at a 600m radius. This engineered curvature reduces the impact of deflection, enabling improved performance compared to conventional straight beams of similar dimensions.
Gauged to match
Designed for efficiency, Beam 16 features industry standard width and depth dimensions to match other engineered timber products, streamlining specification and installation.
Easy to specify
Specification is easy with span tables readily available on the IBuilt website. Alternatively, Beam 16 is ready to specify through Masterspec and through the new Hyne Design software.
Hyne Design is a free web-based software that is a handy tool for designing timber structures.
The IBuilt technical team is also available to help with any questions you may have.
Sustainability
Sustainability is integral to good design. Beam 16 holds PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) accreditation (PEFC/40-31-20); all timber feedstock is sourced from responsibly managed pine plantations.
Range and availability
IBuilt’s Auckland warehouse stocks a wide range of commonly used sizes resulting in minimal lead times when ordering.
- Available in 88 x 200, 240, 300, 360, 400 and 460 and lengths up to 10.8m in 0.6m increments.
- Each beam is treated to H3.1 (LOSP) making it suitable for internal weather protected applications. It is available in a structural non-appearance grade.
