Masons Enviro IT Wall System Keeps Multi-Unit Projects on Track

Masons’ Enviro AAC Intertenancy Wall System is a smart solution for medium density builds. The system features the 50mm thick Enviro AAC (autoclaved aerated concrete) panel — a dense yet lightweight material that is tried and tested in New Zealand. The panels achieve an FRR of 120/120/120 and an STC rating of 64 dB — well above the minimum 55 dB required for intertenancy walls. The system is also quick and easy to install, to provide greater efficiency on site.

Here’s a look at two projects where Enviro AAC ticked all the boxes for performance, ease of use and speed of install:

A fast intertenancy wall solution for Horseshow Lake development

"It's definitely a lot quicker than other systems," says Project Manager Adam Theyers from J Moore Construction, who recently used the Enviro IT Wall System for a residential development at Horseshoe Lake in Christchurch.

"There are three blocks with a total of seven townhouses, which meant four intertenancy walls. Originally there was another product specified, but we jumped on board with the Masons system, and it worked really well."

In addition to the speed and ease of install, Adam noted that the Enviro IT Wall System met project requirements for fire, acoustics and cost-efficiency — and was backed by excellent support from the Masons team.

Keeping a Papamaoa multi-unit project on track

In a recent six-unit development in Papamoa, Russell Thomas, owner of R & R Homes in the Bay of Plenty, used the Enviro AAC Intertenancy Wall System to maximise construction efficiencies and retain more control of the project.

"When we started this new multi-unit development, we needed an intertenancy wall system that provided excellent acoustics and fire performance," explains Russell. "I’ve used tilt-up slabs before, but that was an expensive option for mid-market residential. I was looking for something cost-effective that we could control without using third parties. I did the research and really liked the look of the Enviro AAC Intertenancy Wall System."

A key advantage of Enviro on this project was the ability to run a continuous intertenancy wall up through both levels of the duplex units. "You’ve got a c-channel in the middle, then there’s a 20mm gap between the framing and the panel, which is fixed using four Masons proprietary brackets. The panels are then mortared together, so you’ve basically got a solid concrete wall."
