Laminam Exterior Cladding Launches Self-Cleaning Option in NZ Market

The Laminam CS45 Façade System is a lightweight cassette system that combines very durable Laminam Italian porcelain panels with an aluminum cavity facade system to create a light-weight and resilient external cladding solution that now comes with this innovative self-cleaning option.

HYDROTECT has been developed by Japanese company TOTO, one of the largest plumbing manufacturers in the world and a pioneer of photo-catalyst technology which "automatically" exploits the force of sunlight and rainwater.

How does it work?  In the presence of sunlight, this nontoxic titanium dioxide-based treatment triggers a process similar to photosynthesis; organic matter such as dirt on the surface is firstly decomposed and then washed away easily by water or rain.  Moreover, HYDROTECT removes the nitrogen oxides produced by exhaust fumes, effectively purifying the air.  In addition to these important environmental effects and its eco- sustainability, this treatment provides an effective self-cleaning effect, making it ideal for private and public buildings.

"HYDROTECT is a made to order option and can be applied to all our Laminam products specified for exterior use, to produce a unique result," explains Jesse Staines, Category Manager, Laminex New Zealand. "The coating process is an integrated part of the manufacturing process, and is invisible. It drastically reduces cleaning and maintenance costs over the building’s lifecycle, which reinforces the permanence of Laminam as a construction material."
