Located in Milldale, this showhome kitchen needed to deliver both a sculptural, statement-making presence and the functionality of a welcoming family hub. The challenge lay in achieving a sense of flawless luxury while creating a space any homeowner could imagine themselves living in.

Fluid Interiors, led by designer Emma Gamble, partnered with Maddren Homes to craft this award-winning kitchen. Their long-standing relationship with Hettich played a key role in the design, with trusted hardware solutions ensuring precision, reliability, and a premium finish.

The concept

The vision was to create a bold, sculptural centrepiece kitchen — something that would stop visitors in their tracks while meeting the day-to-day needs of family living. The result is a highly functional, modern kitchen recognised at the 2025 Trends International Design Awards.

The requirement

The design brief required a space that combined sculptural detail, textural finishes, and seamless performance. The challenge was to integrate complex curved forms and layered materials without sacrificing practicality. Precision planning and Hettich hardware ensured the cabinetry operated flawlessly, supporting the design intent while elevating the homeowner experience.

About the product

Hettich’s AvanTech YOU soft-close drawers were used throughout the cabinetry, chosen for their smooth, silent operation and refined, minimal design. Working quietly in the background, the drawers reinforce the sense of quality in the space and highlight the craftsmanship of the cabinetry.

Additional features that complement the hardware include:

• Sensa Taj Mahal Leathered stone on the island top, creating a tactile, organic focal point.
• Dezignatek Swurves Prague panelling, adding sculptural softness and movement.
• Neolith Nero hob bench and Prime Baroque cabinetry with Ironsand toe kicks, layering depth and contrast.
• Extrusion-free glass cabinetry lighting by Fit NZ, enhancing both ambience and usability.
• IKON sink station, combining everyday practicality with a refined finish.

This project demonstrates how Hettich hardware brings together bold design and everyday usability. By working behind the scenes, AvanTech YOU ensures seamless performance, helping designers and builders deliver kitchens that balance drama with durability.
