Nuraply TPO is ideally suited to low slope roofs and decks, the TPO (thermoplastic polyolefin) membrane offers heat welded seam integrity, energy savings and an exceptional finish. It has intensive UV and heat resistance, meaning it's extremely durable and effective in facing New Zealand's varying weather conditions.
Nuraply TPO is an innovative membrane that is highly flexible, puncture resistant and is 1.5mm thick. It comes with a range of approved accessories to complement the TPO and produce a fully warranted system. TPO systems combine the best performance characteristics of thermo-plastics (e.g. PVC) and elastomerics (e.g. EPDM) to ensure optimum results of installation and performance.
Fast, easy installation
Easy to clean and maintain
Ideal for flat roofs and box gutters
Suitable for collection of potable water
Can be installed over plywood, concrete and PIR insulation board
Excellent for remedial decking
Can accommodate floating tile and timber decking on Nurajacks
Nuraply TPO Roof and Deck Membrane Systems are for use as roof and deck waterproofing membranes on buildings within the following scope:
the scope limitations of NZBC Acceptable Solution E2/AS1, Paragraph 1.1; or,
the scope limitations of NZBC Acceptable Solution E2/AS1, Paragraph 1.1 with respect to building height and maximum floor plan area when subject to specific structural design; and,
with building structures designed and constructed to meet the requirements of the NZBC; and,
with substrates of plywood or suspended concrete slabs; and,
with minimum falls for roofs of 1:30 and decks of 1:40
with decks that have a maximum area of 40 m2; and,
situated in NZS 3604 Wind Zones, up to, and including Extra High
Nuraply TPO Roof and Deck Membrane Systems are also for use as roof and deck waterproofing membranes on buildings within the following scope:
subject to specific structural and weathertightness design; and,
with substrates of plywood or suspended concrete slab; and,
situated in specific design wind pressures up to a maximum design differential ultimate limit state (ULS) of 3 kPa; and,
with the weather-tightness design of all junctions for each specific structure being the responsibility of the building designer.
Roofs and decks waterproofed with Nuraply TPO Roof and Deck Membrane Systems must be designed and constructed in accordance with the following limitations:
nominally flat roofs and decks and pitched roofs constructed to drain water to gutters and drainage outlets complying with the NZBC; and,
with no integral roof gardens; and,
no steps in level within the deck area, no integral roof gardens and no downpipes direct discharge to decks; and,
with deck membranes continually protected from physical damage by a pedestrian protection system. The design and construction of the substrate and movement and control joints is specific to each building, and therefore is the responsibility of the building designer and building contractor.
Limitations on Use
Not recommended for:
Decks where the membrane is directly walked upon. Membrane must be protected with a floating tile or timber overlay on Nurajacks.
Large Green roofs instead utilise Nuraply 3PG, double layer membrane.
Areas that are exposed to excessive heat are not suitable for this membrane.
Nuraply TPO has to be installed by a Nuralite Approved applicator.
Statement of Building Code Compliance
In the opinion of BRANZ, Nuraply TPO Roof and Deck Membranes, if designed, used, installed and maintained in accordance with the statements and conditions of this Appraisal, will meet the following provisions of the NZBC:
Clause B2 Durability: Performance B2.3.1 (b) 15 years, Nuraply TPO Roof and Deck Membranes meet this requirement.
Clause E2 External Moisture: Performance E2.3.1, E2.3.2 and E2.3.6. Roofs incorparating Nuraply TPO Roof and Deck Membranes meet these requirements.
Clause F2 Hazardous Building Materials: Performance F2.3.1. Nuraply TPO Roof and Deck Membranes meet this requirement and will not present a health hazard to people.
Nuraply TPO has been applied successfuly to numerous projects throughout New Zealand. Useful for both new builds and remdials TPO provides an excellant option on roofs, dcks and gutters.
Other Performance Attributes
Nuraply TPO has a light reflective value (LVR) of 0.72
Available in long, wide rolls 30.5m x 3m. Nuraply TPO lengths mean there are less visible seams and overlaps in a finished surface
