Outdoor living areas have been growing in popularity in recent years, with a wide range of design challenges due to the bespoke nature of this industry. Universal Glazing Systems (UGS) have developed a range of Clearspan systems to cover any area and to meet design briefs provided by architects and their clients alike.
For a recently built house in Taupo with a modern industrial appearance, this design brief was all about matching the current house design with a Colorsteel exterior, while giving a bright and warm atmosphere for the outdoor patio area. “I looked at a few options for this area, and when I came across the UGS system, it appealed to me for several reasons,” explains Mat Staples, the Director of Ehaus Taupo. “The aesthetics and versatility of the UGS system was exactly what I was after.”
While being able to work with Ehaus on the design of the structure, UGS were able to complement this with a Diffused Opal glazing panel which enhances the light while still blocking out the heat. “Reducing glare was a big consideration for this project, and the diffused glazing worked perfectly,” says Mat.
The flexibility of the system allowed Ehaus to add gutter and steel details to meet the design brief. With a dark frame and house, and bright panels, a striking contrast was achieved.
The UGS Clearspan system can cover all areas large or small, requires very little maintenance and is very cost effective in comparison to their competitors. “The ability to powdercoat the Glazing system to any colour and the simplicity of the installation means I will definitely be using this system again and highly recommend it.” says Mat.
