The Technokolla Waterproofing and Tiling System, supplied and supported in New Zealand by Surtec, is a tested, compatible system for undertile waterproofing and tiling. It is BRANZ appraised and aligned with E3/AS2 (IWAM Code of Practice), providing confidence from design through to long-term performance.

Applications

The Technokolla Waterproofing and Tiling System covers a broad spectrum of applications, from interior wet areas such as bathrooms and laundries, to balconies, decks, pools, water features, external facades and cladding. The system is suitable for standalone homes, townhouses, apartments, retirement villages, hotels, and commercial and industrial buildings, in any area where undertile waterproofing is required.

Comprehensive and compatible system solutions

Tested system solutions are provided for Internal Tiled Wet Areas, External Tiled Areas and Swimming and Spa Pools, both tiled and plaster finishes. This ensures full compatibility and trusted performance matched to each area. Pools, façades, decks and heated floors are designed on a project-by-project basis and require applicators; please consult Surtec for detailing and documentation.

Each system specification is comprehensive, from substrate preparation with primers, levellers and screeds, to waterproofing, through to finishing grouts and silicones. Where required, the system also includes crack isolation and sound control using NAC ECB75 and Supersam 125 sheet membranes. Key components include primers such as Techno Primer T and Techno Primer 101, BRANZ appraised membranes Rasogum+, Rasolastik ADV and Rasolastik EVO, the Strataflex sheet membrane, reinforcement bands RL80 and RL300, tile adhesives, and finishing with Techno Colours or Techno Evolution grouts and Techno Acesil silicone.

Tested in New Zealand conditions

The Technokolla system meets NZBC B2 Durability and E3 Internal Moisture, references E3/AS2 and the IWAM Code of Practice, and has a proven history of performance in New Zealand conditions for almost 30 years. To help ensure the system meets project-specific requirements, Surtec provides local technical support, certified applicator training, and project-specific advice.

Trusted BRANZ appraised waterproofing performance

Technokolla offers one of the most comprehensively tested waterproofing ranges available in New Zealand. BRANZ appraised membranes include Rasogum+, Rasolastik ADV and Rasolastik EVO (Appraisal 542, internal wet areas) and Strataflex Waterproofing Sheet Membrane (Appraisal 519, internal wet areas). These membranes are tested to AS4858 Wet Area Membranes and are approved for use under AS3740 and the IWAM Code of Practice.

Installation support to reduce risk on-site

International research shows that most waterproofing failures result from poor installation. Surtec addresses this through certified applicator training, council-recognised PS3 producer statement pathways and local site support. Use certified applicators.

Design support

Surtec’s technical team provides pragmatic, solutions-focused support throughout the project journey. This includes exploratory discussions, technical assistance and specification guidance, including site visits, to find the right solutions for the project. CPD sessions, CAD details and specification templates are available to simplify design documentation. Movement joints are to the designer’s layout, with sealant installed per the guide.

Warranty & maintenance

The Technokolla Waterproofing and Tiling System comes with a 15-year product warranty that meets NZBC requirements for performance and durability.

Ongoing protection and maintenance guidance is available. Through partner company Fila Solutions, a global leader in treating, protecting and maintaining ceramic and natural stone, Technokolla provides a complete care cycle. This includes pre-grouting protection, long-term sealers to resist efflorescence and UV damage, and maintenance cleaners to support hygiene and durability over the life of the building. External Wet Areas Waterproofing & Tiling System — Terraces & Balconies

The Technokolla External Waterproofing System is a fully integrated, BRANZ Appraised liquid-applied waterproofing solution, specifically designed for use beneath ceramic and stone tile finishes.

This system is suitable for external floor tile installations in both residential and commercial projects. It is recommended for use on balconies, patios, terraces, façades, and other outdoor hardscape areas.

Compatible with a wide range of tile types, including ceramic and porcelain.

Rasolastik Waterproofing Membranes have been BRANZ Appraised for use as waterproofing membranes in the following applications:

Buildings within the scope limitations of NZBC Acceptable Solution E2/AS1, Paragraph 1.1
Timber-framed structures designed and constructed in accordance with the NZ Building Code (NZBC)
Substrates including plywood and fibre cement compressed sheet
Decks with a maximum area of 40m²

Rasolastik Waterproofing Membranes are also approved for use as waterproofing membranes over external reinforced concrete pedestrian decks and balconies for buildings within the following scope:

Up to 3 storeys high, with a maximum height from ground to eaves of 10 metres
Floor plan areas limited only by seismic and structural control joints
Reinforced concrete designed and constructed in accordance with the NZBC

The Technokolla Wet Area Waterproofing System is a fully integrated, BRANZ Appraised liquid-applied waterproofing system, designed for application beneath ceramic and stone tile finishes in internal wet areas.

The Technokolla Wet Area Waterproofing System is designed for use beneath ceramic, porcelain, and natural stone tiles, including mosaics, in internal wet areas. It is suitable for both residential and commercial applications, including bathrooms, kitchens, and laundries.

The system components — including Rasogum+, Rasolastik ADV, and Rasolastik EVO — have been appraised for use in the following scope:

Interior wet areas in residential, commercial, hospitality, and institutional buildings (e.g. apartments, hotels, gyms, educational facilities).
Wall substrates: Concrete, concrete masonry, wet area fibre cement sheet lining systems, wet area plasterboard lining systems.
Floor substrates: Concrete, plywood, fibre cement compressed sheet, fibre cement tile underlay.
Must be protected by ceramic, porcelain, or natural stone tile finishes, including mosaics, to prevent physical damage.
Suitable for use in standard and high-humidity environments
Compliant for use in NZ wind zones up to Extra High when used internally in sealed environments.

Clause B2 Durability — Performance B2.3.1 (b): 15 years
The membranes meet the durability requirements for building elements incorporating waterproofing systems.
Clause E3 Internal Moisture — Performance E3.3.6:
Interior wet area floors and walls incorporating Technokolla Rasolastik and Rasogum+ membranes will prevent water penetration and meet this requirement (as covered by Appraisal 542).
Clause F2 Hazardous Building Materials — Performance F2.3.1:
The membranes do not contain any hazardous materials and will not present a health hazard to building occupants.

This system is suitable for tiled & plastered swimming pool installations in both residential and commercial projects, including spas, plunge pools, water features, and submerged wet zones. It is engineered to perform in fully immersed environments where long-term waterproofing, flexibility, and bond strength are critical.

Compatible with a wide range of tile & plaster finishes, including ceramic, porcelain, mosaics, and natural stone.

Rasolastik Waterproofing Membranes have been BRANZ Appraised for use as waterproofing membranes in swimming pool and submerged applications when applied over approved concrete substrates.

These membranes are suitable for use in:

Reinforced concrete swimming pools and spas, both indoor and outdoor
Tiled pool shells, plunge pools, and water features requiring full submersion
Residential and commercial pools, including pools in hotels, leisure centres, and multi-residential developments

Rasolastik membranes comply with the New Zealand Building Code (NZBC) and have been tested in accordance with BRANZ Appraisal No. 541.
