Create Curved Walls with Greater Spans with CURV-E Track

The Steel Rollformed Products Ltd (SRPLTD) CURV-E Track is a specifically designed deflection head and bottom track system that allows industry professionals to create curved walls with greater spans while allowing for more deflection.

SRPLTD identified the need for this product when approached to help design a 10-metre high curved wall. Engineering requirements were for 80mm of deflection gap and a BMT (base metal thickness) of 1.5mm due to the building's large expected deflection in the main structure, as well as high lateral loading on the walls owing to internal wind pressure.

Typical products that were already on the market at the time could not achieve the required deflection leg length and could only be produced up to 0.75BMT. Individual hand-cut notches would have to be done on-site to accommodate the curve which proved to be very labour intensive with potentially hundreds of cuts to make. SRPLTD took on the challenge of finding a solution that would be both cost and time effective.

SRPLTD has developed a system that uses laser-cut notched angles that can bend to very tight radii while maintaining its strength. The product can come in any custom leg length and BMT meaning the right-sized product is available for all customer requirements. As the track is made up of two angles this also means it can fit any stud size, whether its 64mm steel stud or 90mm timber framing.

SRP Curv-E Track is a 2-piece split track designed for use in curved internal walls.

The SRP Curv-E track system is designed for use internally, in buildings where curved walls are designed/required — as opposed to straight walls. The Curv-E Track can be integrated to allow smooth transition from curved to straight-run walls.

In addition, all wall profiles manufactured by SRP meet the required BMT [Base Metal Thickness], strength and durability requirements. All wall component sizes and gauges manufactured by SRP are to precise specified requirements as established by design, and will not compromise structural integrity and/or fire/acoustic ratings of a relevant non-load bearing partition.
