Provista Semi-Frameless Balustrade for Wellington Multi-Unit Development

The development, designed to help meet strong demand for smaller communal housing near an urban centre, is on a corner site at 23 Batchelor Street. The two-level units feature an attractive modern exterior combining low maintenance materials with clean lines and complementary colour combinations. The balustrades feature a Silver Pearl powder coat finish in keeping with other exterior finishes. Provista’s baluster-style aluminium balustrading was also used as an attractive and safe finish to walled areas in the rear of the development.

Having used Provista solutions in previous projects, and found both their knowledge and support at a high level and range of solutions very diverse, the architects specified Provista’s ‘Panorama’ Semi-frameless solution to provide a stylish balustrade to the second level of each apartment as well as rear access areas. The balustrade is affixed to the building structure using Provista’s aluminium Gutter Bracket solution. Both the balustrade and Gutter Bracket have been engineered for Extra High wind zones as standard.

In keeping with the design of the building, the solution also features a ‘Retro’ rectangular handrail profile. Provista’s ‘Ultra’ three-way post profile has been utilised offering completely hidden fixings for a very clean and linear result. The glass utilised is Metro Performance Glass 10mm Toughened Safety Glass.

Provista Semi-frameless solutions are very adaptable to different building types, looking great on modern or classical structures and, in this case, have provided a practical and modern solution that complements the design and look of the units.

Friday Homes undertook the project build and worked closely with the Provista team during the balustrade installation. Andrew Pearson, Project Manager at Friday Homes, concludes “I think the balustrade works in really well with the overall design. I found the workmanship to be of a high standard and I find the Provista Wellington team great to deal with.”

Provista Balustrade Systems solutions are compliant with all NZ regulations and suited to A, B, E and C3 residential and commercial applications.
