Introducing Tricore: An Advanced Insulated Roofing System

Offering a choice of metal roofing profiles, the fully lined Tricore system combines the best aspects of Nuralite and Dimond to produce an advanced insulated metal tray roof. The Tricore system provides unique thermal and acoustic performance which has been trialled and tested thoroughly to meet customer's needs.

Tricore has been engineered to be the next generation of roofing. Researched and perfected, the system has four innovative components that enhance performance: Pre-finished Lining Sheet, Insulation Board, Slotted Roof Rail and Roof Sheet and Underlay.

The pre-finished lining sheet used is the Dimond NPM 900 profile in Zincalume, or ColorCote finish if left exposed as visible lining. It is pan-fixed to purlins to achieve rapid enclosure of the building. Nuralite's Enertherm PIR board with tri-laminated aluminium foil facing to both sides is the next component. The insulation board has high compressive strength: at 10% deformation ≥ 175 kPa (EN 13165) and an R-value of 3.6 at 80mm thick.

On top of the PIR is the Mento 1000 underlay, which absorbs any moisture present below the roof sheet, releasing it to drying air in the ventilated space below the roof sheet. The outer layer consists of profiled metal sheets installed on a slotted roof rail which negates the use of long fasteners through the roof sheet, eliminating a possible thermal bridge.

Due to its slotted roof rail design, Tricore is a breathable system, allowing the required amount of air movement to control moisture levels. It has lower moisture levels than other systems year-round whilst removing the need to rely on a vapour barrier, therefore reducing the risk of moisture accumulating and causing corrosion in the roof sheet.

It is important to have a weatherproof roofing system: Tricore offers continuous sheets with no end or lap joins, so the sealants that are often used to hold the roof panels together aren't required. The Tricore system provides insulation with a consistent R-value across the roof, which is maintained for the duration of its life span. This is achieved with the fastening and batten system introducing a thermal break and minimising energy loss in the roof.

Designed for the New Zealand environment, Tricore is compliant to the NZ Building Code clause E2/AS1 and H1. With ease of install also being a benefit, the roof sheets can be replaced if damaged without disturbing the insulation.

With a choice of long run profiles and no end laps or sealants needed, Tricore offers an effective insulated and ventilated roofing system. Nuralite and Dimond have created Tricore for the metal roofing industry with the aim of delivering a high performing system that meets the market's needs and brings forward the next generation of advanced insulated roofs.
