Sequentially installed cladding (left to right, right to left) has frequently presented a challenge when it comes to mid-wall repairs. If a single board is damaged, replacement typically requires starting from the finishing point and working backwards — removing panels, disturbing flashings, and dismantling good work in the process.
The newly introduced Nu-Wall Maintenance Joint eliminates this problem by creating a deliberate, serviceable break point within the cladding. Engineered to integrate seamlessly with Nu-Wall’s most popular profiles, it allows targeted repairs to be carried out quickly, cleanly, and without disrupting the entire elevation.
For designers, this new flashing shows that long-term performance is not only about durability but also about future proofing the design with an easily maintainable system. By incorporating a pre-planned maintenance access point, the Maintenance Joint ensures future works can be completed without undermining architectural intent. It is particularly valuable in high-wear zones, service areas, and retrofit-prone locations, providing confidence that the envelope can be serviced with minimal disruption and reduced cost.
Nu-Wall has launched the Maintenance Joint in two options. The E70 Maintenance Joint provides a 70mm cover width with a 20mm negative detail, while the Mono50 Maintenance Joint delivers a slimmer 50mm cover width with a clean, unobtrusive finish. Both are available in horizontal and vertical formats, giving designers flexibility without compromise.
Installation is intuitive, using a two-part system of base and cap secured with Nu-Wall’s proven rotate-in fastening method. This allows straightforward assembly during construction and equally straightforward disassembly if maintenance is required years later — saving time, reducing call-backs, and protecting design integrity.
