The Marshall Weatherization System is a pre-cladding system comprising of six highly compatible components — which have been carefully selected for their high-performance criteria and suitable integration properties:

Tekton Wall Underlay
Hydra Wall Underlay
Hydra Roof Underlay
Super-Stick or ProSill Tape
Seam Tape
Trade-Seal

Together they create a weathertight system which combines superior strength, water hold-out and flexibility with ease of installation. The Marshall Weatherization System (MWS) is designed as a secondary line of defence in case of water penetration through the roof or wall cladding.

Tekton is a synthetic, non-absorbent, breather-type coated, spun-bonded polypropylene with a superior Flammability Index Rating (= 0) and outstanding tear strength. This underlay acts as a secondary line of defence and also provides protection of the framing/building structure for up to 60 days during construction.

Tekton Seam tape is used as an extra level of watertight protection for sealing where underlay joins overlap; this is a requirement of the MWS as per system specification.

HYDRA Wall is a synthetic, absorbent, breathable, fire retardant flexible underlay which can be used behind all wall claddings (absorbent/non-absorbent claddings in both direct and non-direct fixing).

HYDRA Roof underlay — a new addition which completes the Weatherization System (protection of complete building envelope) is an absorbent, self-supporting, breathable, fire retardant flexible underlay, suitable for use with most roofing types, and both timber and steel framed buildings. This tri-laminate, synthetic, non-woven roof underlay is outstanding in bright blue, and is also 100% recyclable.

Super-Stick and ProSill are high-performance flashing tapes used for effectively sealing around window and door openings, each with their own unique sealing and adhesion properties for varying installation applications. Super-Stick is also commonly used for RAB Board sheet joins (in residential, commercial, healthcare, retirement and education projects throughout NZ) and is often the preferred tape choice by builders especially for use with JH RAB board in the Auckland market.

All electrical, plumbing and service penetrations are effectively sealed using the Marshall Trade-Seals — which are a BRANZ-appraised, one-piece self-adhesive collar available in a range of sizes 8mm – 220mm. Trade-Seals can be used with both flexible and rigid underlay types; and can be exposed to UV for up to 90 days (during construction).

Marshall Innovations range of weathertight construction solutions each carry their own independent BRANZ appraisal; the Marshall Weatherization System has been BRANZ appraised as one complete system.

The Marshall Weatherization System consists of Tekton/ HYDRA Building Wraps, HYDRA Roof Underlay, Super Stick Building Tape, Trade-Seals and Tekton Seam Tape.

Pre-Consumer Recycled Content

The Marshall Weatherization System has been appraised for use on buildings within the following scope:

Constructed with timber framing in accordance with the scope limitations of NZBC Acceptable Solution E2/AS1 or, constructed with steel framing subject to specific engineering design, with the building height and floor plan area in accordance with scope limitations of NZBC Acceptable Solution E2/AS1; and,
with absorbent wall claddings directly fixed to frame complying with NZBC Acceptable Solution E2/AS1 or covered by a valid BRANZ Appraisal that specifies a flexible wall underlay and a flexible flashing system; or,
with absorbent and non-absorbent wall claddings installed over an 18 mm minimum drained cavity complying with NZBC Acceptable Solution E2/AS1 or covered by a valid BRANZ Appraisal that specifies a flexible wall underlay or a rigid wall underlay with flexible underlay over and flexible flashing system; or,
with masonry veneer in accordance with NZBC Acceptable Solution E2/AS1 for timber framed buildings or specific design for steel framed buildings; and,
situated in NZS 3604 Wind Zones up to and including 'Very High' where the flexible wall underlay is directly fixed to the frame, and up to and including 'Extra High' where the underlay is used over rigid wall underlays

In the opinion of BRANZ, the Marshall Weatherization System if designed, used, installed and maintained in accordance with the statements and conditions of this Appraisal, will meet, or contribute to meeting the following provisions of the NZBC:

Clause B2 Durability: Performance B2.3.1 (a) not less than 50 years, B2.3.1 (b) 15 years and B2.3.2. The Marshall Weatherization System meets this requirement.
Clause E2 External Moisture: Performance E2.3.2. The Marshall Weatherization System contributes to exterior walls meeting this requirement.
Clause F2 Hazardous Building Materials: Performance F2.3.1. The Marshall Weatherization System meets this requirement and will not present a health hazard to people. This is an Appraisal of an Alternative Solution in terms of New Zealand Building Code compliance.

SUPER-STICK is a flexible flashing tape used around framed joinery openings as a secondary weather resistant barrier.

SUPER-STICK has been appraised as a flexible flashing system for use around window and door joinery openings for buildings within the following scope:

the scope limitations of NZBC Acceptable Solution E2/AS1, Paragraph 1.1; and,
with a risk score of 0-20, calculated in accordance with NZBC Acceptable Solution E2/AS1, Table 2; and,
with wall cladding systems complying with NZBC Acceptable Solution E2/AS1 or a valid BRANZ Appraisal that specifies a flexible flashing tape system; and,
with wall underlays compatible with the flexible flashing tape; and, situated in NZS 3604 Wind Zones up to, and including, 'Extra High'.
SUPER-STICK has also been appraised as a flexible flashing system for use around window and door joinery openings for steel framed buildings

In the opinion of BRANZ, SUPER-STICK, if designed, used, installed and maintained in accordance with the statements and conditions of Appraisal No. 846 (2013), will meet or contribute to meeting the following provisions of the NZBC:

Clause B2 Durability: Performance B2.3.1 (b), 15 years and B2.3.2. SUPER-STICK meets these requirements.
Clause E2 External Moisture: Performance E2.3.2. SUPER-STICK contributes to meeting this requirement.
Clause F2 Hazardous Building Materials: Performance F2.3.1. SUPER-STICK meets this requirement and will not present a health hazard to people. SUPER-STICK has been appraised as an Alternative Solution in terms of New Zealand Building Code compliance.
