Smart Logistics and NZ Manufacturing Deliver 4,300m² Insulated Roof on a Tight Schedule

Rāwhiti School in North New Brighton, Christchurch, is a purpose-built learning environment which accommodates up to 600 students. The architecture of the school responds strongly to both place and pedagogy. Its low-lying, elongated form stretches across the site, creating shelter from prevailing winds while establishing a close relationship between indoor and outdoor learning. Rather than treating the landscape as secondary to the buildings, the design integrates playgrounds, gardens, an amphitheatre, artificial turf, bike and scooter tracks and pool facilities as extensions of the learning environment. A restrained material palette and subtle local references reinforce the school’s identity while creating a calm, cohesive environment for students and staff.

Kingspan supplied its New Zealand Made KSN1000FC Five Crown Roof & Wall Panel for this project. Local production enabled a just-in-time delivery strategy, with the full 4,300m² required for the primary stage manufactured and delivered across just two days and completed during the 2025/26 Christmas break. This minimised on-site storage while allowing materials to arrive in line with the installation sequence.

Close collaboration between Kingspan, Armitage Williams Construction, Wayman Roofing Services and the wider project team enabled production, deliveries, lifting and installation to be coordinated around the school's restricted site conditions, outside of school operation. A dedicated lifting strategy allowed panels to be efficiently transferred from delivery vehicles to the required work faces, maintaining momentum within the tight programme.

Rāwhiti School demonstrates how local manufacturing, product selection and close project collaboration can turn complex construction constraints into a coordinated, efficient delivery strategy.
