Wingates’ design for Milford Asset Management’s new 2,030m² headquarters brings the brand’s Auckland operations together on one floor, drawing inspiration from the beauty of Milford Sound and the colours of the native Kea. The workplace has been planned to support flexibility, wellness, and growth, with finishes that reflect a uniquely New Zealand identity.

Sustainability was a key driver, with the selection of cradle-to-cradle certified carpets that combine environmental responsibility with design versatility.

To achieve difference yet cohesion across a variety of spaces and purposes, that tie back to the biophilic concept of New Zealand flora and fauna, Wingates selected Haze, DSGN Cloud, and DSGN Absolute commercial carpet tiles from modulyss, supplied by Heritage Carpets. Deep blues, greens, and reds capture the tones of Kea plumage, while soft grey cloud patterns reference Fiordland’s dramatic skies.

Pairing two DSGN products in the same colourway allowed a seamless shift in pattern between zones, and using Haze in both cut and loop pile within the same tone added depth to calming spaces.

Natasha Baumgartner, Lead Interior Designer, says: “We loved the colour options that the Haze range provided, it was also a newer range we hadn’t seen that provided pops of colour but kept the texture/pattern minimal. Additionally, being able to pair the looped and cut pile options side by side.”
