Few carpet tile manufacturers globally have managed to perfect the mini tuft technique as well as modulyss has. This is an extremely low, tight and durable carpet finish, achieved by using more tufting needles, closer together. Tufting machines are also run more slowly to ensure a smooth and defined finish, a “tailored look”.
Mini tuft uses one third less yarn than an average textured carpet pile, while achieving the same and possibly superior performance. The lower tufts have little room to move to eliminate the friction possible in higher textured or looser carpet surfaces, maximising the performance lifespan of the carpet tile, which is perfect in the commercial arena.
Modulyss’ Blaze from The Delight Collection, Grind from the Handcraft Collection and Opposite, make up their range of mini tuft carpet tiles. Both Grind and Blaze use the 100% regenerated ECONYL nylon yarn derived from recovered fishing nets and other waste materials.
Another equally interesting flooring cover comes from Tretford Carpets in Europe. The original machinery from the 1950s, hand-built by the founders, is painstakingly maintained in Waterford, Ireland today. Only employees of Tretford see these top-secret machines.
Cashmere goat hair is shipped from Inner Mongolia to Tretford's own plants, either Wesel, Germany for roll or Waterford, Ireland for tiles.
Here it is blended to create the 70+ bespoke colours in the range today. Some of the colours are a cocktail of up to 10 different colours, blended together via Tretford's patented blending machines. Once blended, the magic begins. The carpet is then transformed into the unique ribbed format that can be seen today. Today, Tretford have the only bonded rib-cord carpet making machines in the world.
If visual excitement is desired, one of the latest ranges from modulyss, Fluid& or one of the many patterned collections from Bentley Mills is sure to please.
Fluid& joins Fashion& and Velvet&, from the coordinated &-Collection, to offer a collection which possesses a wonderful sense of fluidity and movement. It is inspired by the organic, free-flowing aesthetic of adding paint to water. Described by some as “movement on the floor”, Fluid& is perfectly imperfect in its approach to pattern.
Along with Fluid&, Velvet& is constructed with a multi-level loop pile and random tip-sheared cut pile, creating a tight and dense structure interspersed by areas of velours for a rich velvet-feel.
At Bentley, art inspires imagination, captures creativity and evokes emotion. Bentley awakens interiors with its amazing range of carpet collections. Visually appealing and textural, many of Bentley's collections tell a story or paint a picture with thick strokes of colour and light splashes of contrast — creating large-scale, multidimensional works of art.
Favourites include their eye-catching offer of stunning patterned carpets, Repose, Sure Bet, Dust Jacket and Secco, showcasing luxurious organic looks, and Double Down, Redux and Discord, highlighting more structured patterns.
Heritage Carpets are passionate about all things floors and are happy to find the best carpet for any project, whether that be the look, feel or construction.
