Insulation
The new Kingspan Kooltherm products have the potential to offer significant advantages to both specifiers and installers. Available in a range of thicknesses and finishes, these phenolic core insulation sheets have the lowest thermal transmittance of any commercially available insulant. Producing twice the R value for thickness of glass wool and expanded polystyrene and 50% higher than extruded polystyrene, Kooltherm products produce vastly superior fire performance.
Kooltherm is highly resistant to water vapour (over 96% closed cell) and will absorb less than 2% moisture, meaning it can be installed in almost any weather. With a surface compressive strength of 175kPa, it is also highly resistant to impact damage during installation and in use.
Kingspan Kooltherm is the obvious choice for any Greenstar rated building; it is BRE certified in Europe, as well as being EnviroSpec certified here in New Zealand. Kooltherm K10 contains no CFC’s, HCFC’s or ozone depleting chemicals.

LED Lighting
Forman Building Systems Ltd has released a LedionOpto Commercial Recessed Down Light as part of their LED lighting range. This product has already gained specification on major projects as it provides a great alternative to CFL and Metal Halide technologies which are currently being using in commercial applications.
The down light is available in 15W, 25W and 50W versions, providing good illumination distribution while providing up to 50% energy savings when compared with traditional lighting technologies. In addition, these fixtures are comparatively priced.
They are available in three colour temperatures including 3000K, 4000K and 6000K, with a CRI of up to 80Ra, making them suitable for most general lighting applications in commercial and retail spaces. There are clear and frosted lens options available. Photometric IES files are also available for this range.
