FloodFree Flood Barriers
Description

FloodFree flood barriers are engineered systems designed to prevent or isolate floodwater from entering buildings, infrastructure, and critical assets during flood events.

They provide customisable, site-specific protection using a range of permanent, temporary, and automated barrier solutions to suit different flood risks and response times.

Key Features
  • Modular / scalable design — Constructible to infinite lengths using segmented components
  • Incremental height configuration — Barrier segments available in 100mm height increments
  • Multiple deployment mechanisms — Manual (demountable), Passive (self-actuating via water level), Automatic / hydraulic systems with sensors
  • Material durability — Marine-grade aluminium + UV-stabilised seals (PVC)
  • Trafficable designs (select systems) — Designed to support pedestrian to vehicle loads when installed in accessways
  • Low maintenance systems — Engineered for minimal servicing requirements
  • Custom engineering — Designed and fabricated site-specifically (openings, loads, aesthetics)
  • Transport & storage systems — Trolleys and storage solutions available for manually deployable barriers

Scope of Use

FloodFree barriers are most effective where one needs controlled, engineered flood protection at defined entry points or assets, such as:

  • Property & building protection — Doorways, entrances, roller doors, Basement and underground carpark entries, Lift shafts and plant rooms
  • Infrastructure & commercial assets — Warehouses, factories, and utilities, Critical infrastructure (power, water, transport)
  • Site perimeter / access control — Driveways, ramps, and loading docks, Openings between walls or structures (1m–100m spans depending on system)
  • Urban flood mitigation — Streetscape integration (concealed or retractable systems), Developments requiring permanent or semi-permanent flood resilience
Limitations on Use
  • Site & design — Require engineered design specific to site conditions.
  • Operational — Manual systems require warning time and deployment planning, some automated systems may require powered hydraulics, all require maintenance checks to ensure correct operation.
  • Flood barriers are part of a whole system solution (often paired with landscaping, pumps, or detention), not a standalone fix for all scenarios.
