TreadTech, when installed in accordance with Installation Guide, is intended for use as a deck framing system in horizontal applications.

It has been designed to support:

• Composite decking boards
• Exterior structural tiles
• Hardwood timber decking boards

• TreadTech must be kept within supplied specifications.
• The TreadTech framing system in this specification complies with liveloads in accordance with B1/VM1 with reference to AS/NZS 1170.1:2002, for occupancy type: Domestic & residential activities, self-contained dwellings, Balconies and roofs used for floor type activities, with no restriction on height above ground level, but excludes stairs and landings.
• The deck boards and their connections to the framing (by others), in in-service conditions, shall not exceed more than 45kg per square meter in weight.
• The standard TreadTech product is not suitable for attaching balustrades and/or any form of screen or barrier to. Contact UNEX Systems if there is a balustrade connection required - site specifice PS1's can be supplied for this.
• The decking boards and their fasteners must be suitable and compatible to be used in conjunction with this TreadTech Framing system.
• The supporting Structure including any water-proofing membranes must be suitable and compatible with the TreadTech framing system.
• Aluminium surfaces, with the exception of cut ends and KEJH jointers, shall be powder coasted or anodized.
• Snow loading - Contact UNEX Systems for applications that are 500 meters or more above sea level.
• Wind Loading - Decking in exposed locations should have a parapet (or something similar) to prevent wind blowing under the deck and prevent uplift of the deck.
• Some decks will require lateral support from adjacent Parapet, Wall or other such structure depending on their zone and location, Height of the pedestals, and the height of the deck above adjacent ground level. Contact UNEX Systems to confirm if lateral support is required. 

This system is designed, used, installed, and maintained by the supporting technical information and additional conditions and limitations based on the Australian and New Zealand Building Code. Alternative solutions by demonstrating compliance based on the performance requirements of the Building Code for:

• Clause B1 STRUCTURE: Performance B1.3.1, B1.3.2 and B1.3.4. TreadTech meets the requirements for loads arising from self-weight, imposed gravity loads arising from use, and earthquake impact [i.e. B1.3.3 (a), (b), (f), (g), and (j)].
• Clause B2 DURABILITY: Extruded aluminium joists and bearers manufactured from 6060 T5 or T6 aluminium alloy and either powder coated or anodised.
• Clause F2 HAZARDOUS BUILDING MATERIALS: Performance F2.3.1. The TreadTech – Aluminium Deck Subframe System meets this requirement and will not present a health hazard to people.
