External adhered stone cladding system for Megaform insulated concrete form (ICF) walls that combines a BRANZ-appraised cementitious waterproofing membrane behind the stone veneer, C2TES1 or higher deformable adhesive, defined movement-joint spacing and optional mechanical support when height or stone mass demands it.
Rasolastik ADV/EVO forms the primary external waterproofing layer, applied in multiple coats over RL80 bond-breaker at all corners, junctions and penetrations with wet-film and dry-film thickness verification to a final dry film thickness not less than about 2mm before installing stone.
Adhered stone is fixed with Technokolla C2 deformable powder adhesives such as Techno Star (preferred) or Techno S-One using full back-buttering and contact to achieve 100 percent coverage.
Movement joints are laid out at perimeters, over structural joints, at changes in plane and generally at maximum 3.0m centres, sealed with silicone not grout. Where façade height exceeds 3m or stone mass exceeds 32kg per SQM, introduce engineered mechanical support and re-seal those fixings through the membrane with RL80 before overcoating.
Independent pull-off testing on Megaform assemblies with Rasolastik EVO plus a C2 adhesive recorded 0.68–0.96 MPa bond, average 0.79 MPa, with failures predominantly within the block, supporting adhesion performance of the system.
When designed and installed in accordance with this system and recognised practice, the system can contribute to NZBC E2 External Moisture when detailed with the BRANZ-appraised Rasolastik ADV/EVO membrane layer, and to NZBC B2 Durability and F2 Hazardous Building Materials for the finishes.
Technokolla systems with Rasolastik EVO membrane and C2 adhesives are used on exterior façades internationally and locally, with New Zealand pull-off testing on Megaform ICF assemblies showing average 0.79 MPa and block-failure mode indicating bond exceeding substrate strength in most cases.
Technokolla’s tiling and waterproofing systems offer BRANZ-appraised performance for NZ residential & commercial projects, complying with NZBC, and IWAM best practice; backed by a 15 year warranty.
