Trespa Meteon Provides 1-S Fire Rating for Wintec Engineering and Trades Facility

Trespa Meteon is predominantly used as an exterior cladding, however the panel's impact resistance and large range of colours and finishes makes it perfect to be used as an interior panel as well. Trespa Meteon meets a Group 1-S fire rating, making it suitable to be used in areas where even the most stringent of fire requirements apply. Trespa Meteon is perfect for high impact areas such as schools, gymnasiums, sports facilities and universities.

Trespa Meteon was specified for the award winning Wintec Engineering and Trades Facility designed by Chow:Hill Architects. The 5092m² Wintec Engineering and Trades building is a unique, multi-functional building designed to revolutionise the delivery of engineering and trades training, supplying the regional and national need for work-ready graduates. The customised building features state-of-the-art technology, shared, adaptable teaching and social learning spaces, and provides training facilities for industry.

Exterior cladding wraps around into the building’s interior to create a flow with different colours to designate different areas. The extensive colour range and colour fastness gave confidence to specify bright colours including Passion Red, Carmine Red, Gold Yellow and Brilliant Blue. The tonal variation in Trespa’s colour range also allowed use of similar colours as feature panels throughout the elevations. Trespa’s Group 1-S fire rating allowed architects and designers to create continuity inside and out for a seamless look.

Materials used within the building were specified with durability, long life and ease of maintenance at front of mind. This includes the pre-finished Trespa panels. Jane Hill from Chow:Hill Architects advises that the Trespa panels also provide vibrancy and colour to the exterior and interior spaces. The red and yellow Trespa clad 'boxes' house the building's lift and stair cores and act as navigational landmarks inside and out.

With the Group 1-S fire rating, Trespa ticks all the boxes for peace of mind for both interior and exterior applications.
