Bring a Natural Vibe to Outdoor Spaces with Tiles

The idea of going back to nature is trending in home design with many homeowners seeking to recreate the beautiful outdoors within their homes. A 'natural' vibe can be captured in a home using natural products such as stone and porcelain, from traditional travertine to wood-look tile.

The blending of indoor flooring to the outdoors is on trend right now and can provide a smooth transition between two spaces. This can be seen in the beautiful Whitford home featured above, where the use of Tile Warehouse's Atlantic Stone has created seamless flow, acting as a statement piece in this stylish, upmarket home.

Other natural stone options available from Tile Warehouse:

Travertine

Travertine is a much sought-after material known for its durability, versatility and aesthetic beauty. Travertine tiles come in earthy tones such as sandy browns, stony greys, or terracotta. Being a natural product, no two travertine tiles will look alike in colour or finish, contributing to the rustic feel. The imperfections in Travertine tiles render a distressed finish, which is reminiscent of weathered stone and brings an authentic earthy feel to home decor. Travertine tiles can be installed on floors and walls in most areas of the home with different varieties also available to suit each application.

Basalt is an incredibly versatile tile which is suitable for all indoor and outdoor public spaces. This tile was recently installed at Telecom Place, Auckland (see image above).

Porcelain Outdoor Tiles

Porcelain tiles transform all kinds of outdoor spaces into impressive bespoke features, making any area stylish, trendy and attractive.

Benefits of Porcelain Outdoors:

  • Porcelain mimics stone varieties, such as granite and limestone, lending itself to the outdoors.
  • It is one of the hardest materials available and is non-porous, meaning it doesn't allow any moisture into the material.
  • Porcelain tiles come in a variety of colours, shapes and sizes.
  • There's little maintenance — dirt can be wiped away with hot water.
