EFAFLEX has introduced a new range of high-speed doors designed for industrial environments requiring efficient access, environmental control, and high operational reliability. The Next Generation range includes a modular system that supports four door leaf types, providing adaptability for a range of performance and aesthetic requirements.
The uniform frame design accommodates door leaves constructed from thermally insulated EFA-THERM laths, anodised aluminium, acrylic glass, or flexible PVC fabric. This flexibility allows specifiers to match the door type to the specific performance needs of the facility, including thermal insulation, sound control, and visual transparency.
Engineered for high wind zones and demanding conditions
The EFA-SST Alux model is rated to wind load Class 5 (DIN EN 12424), ensuring reliable operation even under high wind pressures. This makes it suitable for use in exposed locations or high wind zones, common in many parts of New Zealand.
For buildings with uneven floors, a slanted endshield option is available, enabling the door to close flush to surfaces with up to 200mm variation, with the choice of rigid metal or flexible rubber sealing.
Safety features and access control
The Premium and Eco versions are fitted with the EFA-TLG light grid, an infrared safety system that detects obstacles up to 2.5m high. This is available as an optional feature for the Basic version. Additional safety elements include spring breakage detection, integrated into the door frame, and a bolt lock mechanism that prevents door movement during maintenance.
Multiple control options are available across the range, including EFA-Tronic Light and EFA-Tronic Professional, with units able to be wall-mounted or integrated into the spiral housing for space-saving installation.
Maintenance and diagnostics
To support efficient servicing, the doors feature pivotable frame covers that allow quick access for maintenance. When used with EFA-SmartAssist, remote diagnostics are available. These features are standard for Premium models and optional for Eco and Basic versions.
Performance attributes
Depending on the selected model, Next Generation doors provide:
- Opening speeds up to 4.0 m/s
- Thermal insulation as low as 1.4 W/m²K (DIN EN 12428)
- Sound insulation up to 25 dB(A) (DIN EN ISO 717-1)
- Air permeability up to Class 3 (DIN EN 12426)
- Wind resistance up to Class 5 (DIN EN 12424)
- Operating temperature range -15°C to +50°C
A contact-free spiral guiding system ensures low wear and quiet operation. For fabric curtain models, modular curtain segments allow for quick replacement, minimising maintenance-related downtime.
Applications and scope of use
EFAFLEX Next Generation doors are suited for industrial facilities, including warehouses, cold storage, and manufacturing plants. With corrosion-resistant finishes available, the doors are appropriate for marine and high-corrosion environments. Installation on stable mounting surfaces is required, and use in seismic zones should be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
