Aluminium Ceilings a Solution for Specialised Environments

Standard hot-dipped galvanised steel ceiling suspension grid is great for most commercial building applications, however, as we discovered recently, is not suitable or acceptable for use in hospital MRI rooms — especially as this can provide unwanted interference with clinical equipment such as x-ray machines.

Recently for some internal alterations at C & CDHB Wellington Hospital, Potter Interior Systems were contacted by A.C.E.P.T (Project Designers) who were looking for a suitable solution to this issue with some very specific requirements for this project.

Potters' unique Kwikloc Aluminium suspension grid system provided a suitable solution which included aluminium Seismic Main Tees, Cross Tees and Wall angle; and suspension was achieved via use of suspension rod with spring suspension hangers — avoiding the need for any steel components. All aluminium sections are powdercoated white on an automatic line resulting in a consistent non-corrosive finish. This characteristic also makes Kwikloc aluminium ceiling grid a better option than steel suspension grid for indoor swimming pool environments — as this stands-up much better against the effects of moisture and significantly reduces the risk of corrosion.

Also, as an added feature, the Kwikloc grid tees come standard with 'butt-cut' ends (as opposed to 'joggled-joins' as with standard grid intersections) this system provides a flat even plane for exact tile nesting — particularly noticeable with 'square-edge' ceiling tiles.
