'Right First Time' with Seismic-Designed Suspended Ceilings

The main contractor, Hawkins, approached USG based on the company's previous experience, including other airport projects. Given the occupation of the building and building importance level, the brief was to provide a seismic restraint ceiling design, prior to tender stage. Project managers Coffey Projects preferred a fully coordinated ceiling and services design upfront, prior to tender.

The result was a clear, prescriptive solution for all involved to be able to understand and work-with. The project resulted in a well-coordinated seismic ceiling design, with a complete suspended ceiling system and all in-ceiling services integrating as planned and in compliance with NZBC.

The ceiling products used in this installation were USG Heavyweight 2-way exposed 24mm suspended grid system and USG Olympia Micro ClimaPlus 1200 x 600 x 15mm acoustic ceiling tiles. Sinclair Knight Merz (SKM) verified the USG Seismic Ceiling design and issued a producer statement.
