Scope of Use
  • Strandfloor is a high density reconstituted wood panel bonded with moisture resistant resin and wax, specifically formulated for use as residential and commercial interior floor platforms
  • Strandfloor products can be laid in all weathers, and can be walked on immediately
  • Strandfloor Tongue & Groove required no nogs, and therefore less nailing. They are optimum sizes that suit most applications, enabling fast, continuous installation
  • Strandfloor H3.1 Square Edge and Strandfloor H3.1 Tongue & Groove are premium iterations designed specifically for wet areas. Close-in period has been extended by an additional 50% to twelve weeks
Limitations on Use
  • Strandfloor is an interior use only product. It should not be used for decking or exterior flooring

Statement of Building Code Compliance

Strandfloor products comply with the sheet flooring requirements of the New Zealand Building Code.

If designed, and installed in accordance with the technical literature Strandfloor and Strandfloor H3.1 will meet the following provisions of the NZBC:

  • Clause B1 STRUCTURE: Performance B1.3.1, B1.3.2, B1.3.3 (a), (b), (f), (h), and (j), and B1.3.4
  • Clause B2 DURABILITY: Performance B2.3.1 (a) not less than 50 years (when used as a diaphragm floor or installed under bottom plates), B2.3.1 (b) 15 years (when installed as flooring between bottom plates), and B2.3.1 (c) 5 years (when used as a non-structural overlay)
  • Clause F2 HAZARDOUS BUILDING MATERIALS: Performance F2.3.1

In-Service History

Strandfloor has been marketed and distributed New Zealand by Laminex New Zealand since 2008. As of 2014, over 800,000 sheets of Strandfloor have been installed in residential and commercial settings including the Tuhoe Building.

Other Performance Attributes

Strandfloor is declared as Red List Free in the Declare Products Database. This is a globally recognised nutrition label for the building products industry, formed as part of the Living Building Challenge. Red List Free products have all ingredients disclosed in the Declare database and none of those ingredients appear on the Living Building Challenge Red List.
