Create Dry, Safe and Healthy School Buildings with Thermakraft

The Ministry of Education sets guidelines to ensure the materials being used provide kids with a safe and healthy learning environment, the materials are fit for purpose and the quality of those materials will contribute to the durability and longevity of the building.

Thermakraft’s range of products meet the Ministry Guidelines in regard to best practice standards, weathertightness, fire safety, ventilation, roofing materials, roofing safety and product authentication, such as BRANZ Appraisals and CodeMark certification.

Freemans Bay Primary School was designed and specified by RTA Studio, including several Thermakraft product selections. This project has been highly commended, winning several awards and being listed as a finalist in two categories of the World Architecture Festival Award.

Roofing specialist Topline Roofing installed the roof. Neil Gillespie, Managing Director comments on the use of Thermakraft product: “At Topline Roofing, we strive for quality in everything we do and have a long-standing reputation to uphold. We use Thermakraft Covertek because we have confidence in the quality and reliability of the product."

Paula Wallace, National Specification Manager suggests the integration of products across the build enables a strong simplified warranty, reduces waste, reduces labour costs, optimises square metre coverage and provides time efficiencies on site and in the office.

An example of a Thermakraft integrated solution from the ground to roof that meets the Ministry Guidelines is a combination of Thermathene Orange DPM, Supercourse 500 DPC, Watergate Plus wall underlay, Oneseal penetration seals, Thermaflash flashing tape, Covertek 407 roof underlay and Ausmesh safety mesh. This is just one example, talk to the Thermakraft technical team about a solution that will best meet the brief of your project.

In addition to meeting Ministry Guidelines, architects who specify Thermakraft will be supporting local. Thermakraft is a New Zealand owned and operated company. The innovative roof and wall underlays are all manufactured in East Tamaki and the underlays don’t go out the door without every batch being tested to ensure critical performance is met.
