StoArmat Render System for Award-Winning House

A big congratulations to Architecture Workshop and all involved for winning the Gold Award 2015 in the Westpac New Homes over $2 million build category, at the Registered Master Builders House of the Year Awards in Wellington. Architecture Workshop was also a winner at the Local NZIA Architectural awards in Wellington.

The exterior render system chosen for this project was StoArmat render over concrete block and Eterpan Ventclad. This was finished in Stolit K 1.5 finishing render and coated in Maxicryl and Sto Color X-black for a complete weathertight solution.

StoArmat render systems provide the perfect reinforcing render to ensure maximum system reliability for concrete block and fibre cement sheet construction.

StoArmat is an organic, cement-free and breathable, high-impact render, with a crack resistance six times higher than that of standard cement-based plasters, which ensures maximum system reliability for building facades. Furthermore, Sto have a comprehensive library of Sto details to assist designers and comprehensive specifications to ensure the scope of work is identified.

The StoArmat Miral Render System provides protection, system reliability and finish for concrete block construction.

The StoArmat Miral Plaster System on Concrete Block has been appraised as solid plaster systems for buildings within the following scope:

Up to 3 storeys, with a maximum height from ground to eaves of 10m
For Supporting structures designed and constructed in accordance with the NZBC
Suitable for use in all Wind Zones of NZS 3604 up to, and including, 'Extra High'

The StoArmat Miral Plaster System has also been appraised for bond, durability and weather tightness.

Extra High Wind Zone

The product will, if employed in accordance with the supplier's installation and maintenance requirements, assist with meeting the following provisions of the building code:

Clause B2 Durability: Performance B2.3.1(b), B2.3.1(c)
Clause E2 External moisture: Performance E2.3.2
Clause F2 Hazardous building materials: Performance F2.3.1

Notes: The StoArmat Miral Plaster Systems meet the performance requirements of NZBC Clause B2.3.1 (b), 15 years for the plaster finishes, and the performance requirements of NZBC Clause B2.3.1 (c), 5 years for the exterior paint system.

Constructed with timber framing complying with the NZBC
With a risk score of 0-20, calculated in accordance with NZBC Acceptable Solution E2/AS1, Table 2
Situated in NZS 3604 Building Wind Zones up to, and including 'Very High'

The StoArmat Plaster System has been appraised for use as a jointing and exterior plaster system for EasyLap Panel on buildings subject to specific design up to an ultimate limit state (ULS) wind pressure of 2500 Pa:

Constructed with timber framing complying with the NZBC
Within the scope limitations of BRANZ Appraisal Certificate No. 466 (2020) EasyLap Panel for Texture Coating

Very High WInd Zone

The product will, if employed in accordance with the supplier's installation and maintenance requirements, assist with Clause B2 Durability: Performance B2.3.1(b), B2.3.1(c), Clause E2 External moisture: Performance E2.3.2, Clause F2 Hazardous building materials: Performance F2.3.1meeting provisions of the building code.

The Sto Armat Plaster System meets code compliance with NZBC Clause B2.3.1 (b), 15 years for the jointing and plaster system, and code compliance with NZBC Clause B2.3.1(c), 5 years for the exterior paint system.
