NZ Fire Doors’ external fire rated door with solid timber core provides the benefits and aesthetic of timber, with a fire rating of up to 60 minutes.

This external fire door is suitable for commercial projects where a fire rated door is required, but solid steel options do not suit the desired style. The versatile ply facing provides a soft, welcoming look ideal for multi-residential and retirement developments, as well as civic and mixed use buildings — anywhere a warmer, less industrial aesthetic is preferred.

NZ Fire Doors supply the 60 Minute External Fire Rated Door as a complete doorset, including the door frame, hardware, door leaf and intumescent seals, for a ready-to-install fire rated door system. Key to fire performance is the solid laminated veneer lumber core (LVL) which maintains structural integrity in the event of a fire.

All elements of the 60 Minute External Fire Rated Door have been tested as a system to provide a fire rating of up to 60 minutes. The system meets NZS 4520 and NZBC compliance for fire-resistant doorsets.

The NZFD 60 Minute External Fire Rated Door system features a marine grade ply facing on all sides to prevent any damage from moisture. The door is pre-sealed in the factory, and the ply veneer can be stained or painted on site to suit any project’s colour scheme. Doors can also be constructed with a fire rated glass vision panel.

The 60 Minute External Fire Rated Door can achieve an STC rating of up to 34 due to the density of the solid timber core.

Designed for use as an exterior fire rated door, the system is also suitable as an interior fire door in high moisture environments, such as swimming centres and spas.
