New Zealand Panels Group, owners of the Prime Panels, Dezignatek, Bestwood, Arborline and Kopine Brands, had its origins in Prime Panels which was established in 2002 and which later bought Impey's as a joinery distribution business for the North Island. Since evolving into New Zealand Panels Group, the business has grown significantly by acquisition and increasing its product offering. The three founding members of Prime Panels remain on the current board of NZ Panels Group.
Today it owns five product brands that operate in the decorative interior panels, custom door finishing, edge tape and benchtop sector, a manufacturing plant for particleboard flooring and panels, and joinery distribution business in the North and South Island.
