Thermally enhanced window and door systems in both commercial and industrial environments are scheduled for release in 2026 and will focus on Flushglaze and mainstream commercial/industrial windows as well as commercial doors.

The roll-out follows APL’s completion of ThermalHeart+ products custom-designed and locally manufactured for the New Zealand housing market. These products released over the last few years include full offerings in the Residential, Metro, Centrafix and APL Architectural Series systems.

“Now the focus is on bringing the advantages of local knowledge and expertise to the commercial sector,” said APL CEO, Dave Downey. “The New Zealand window market is open to compliant product from offshore, but we believe that products designed for New Zealand conditions and made by local companies offer a close alignment with developer and builder preferences as well as delivering net economic benefits for the country. The product development for commercial ThermalHeart+ systems follows strong market demand”.

Dave said that currently APL offered a thermally enhanced Structural Glaze window system for high-rise applications, but the new products being designed would offer the fully integrated profiles, including a thermal polyamide strip, for other types of popular commercial windows. The profiles would be stitched together at the company’s ThermalHeart+ operation at Hamilton, which had involved an investment of $20 million in order to ensure product compliance with the government’s Building Code H1 insulation changes of several years ago.

Part of Profile Group’s positioning to ensure a comprehensive offering to the local building industry was the construction of a supply source for high performance double and triple glazing. Sister company, Architectural Glass Products (AGP), features New Zealand’s newest, high tech glass processing lines. AGP double glazing and triple glazing combine the ATS — Architectural Thermal Spacer — with Argon gas and Solux-E or Solux Ultra Low-E coating for IGU’s of maximum effectiveness.
