Asona + Atkar = Quality and Performance

Asona is proud to celebrate 15 years distributing for Australia’s leading architectural panel manufacturers, Atkar. With over 70 years working within the design and construction industry, Atkar’s complete range of architectural and perforated wood panelling systems are fully customisable, offer leading acoustic performance and outstanding quality of finish. Both Atkar and Asona provide an in-house design service to prepare shop drawings and detail to insure a smooth transition from design to quality build.

Here are just some examples where Atkar’s products have helped transform design potential into successful, built solutions:

Geelong Library & Heritage Centre designed by ARM Architecture, is like a world within a world; this complex is the ideal location to facilitate events and meetings thanks to the sophisticated acoustic engineering that delivers clarity and speech intelligibility. Atkar worked closely with ARM Architecture, prototyping the ceiling using Au diPanel to achieve this incredible visual and acoustic feat. The clever execution of the illusive hypercube is derived from a number of hexagonal panels, made up of a combination of drilled and matt finished solid panels. Standing out like a 3D cave, the specific lighting effect enhances and fulfils the brief to engage the mind’s eye and deliver a truly unique experience.

In the refurbishment of the architects BECA’s offices in Tauranga, Morgan Holtom of BECA selected Atkar Au diVent perforated fibre cement ceiling panels for the reception/foyer area. Atkar Au diVent is a durable fibre cement sheet panel with modular slot style perforations and is used as a ventilation panel or acoustic panel when supplied with optional Integrated Acoustic Backing (IAB). Au.diVent helps to reduce ceiling space heat build-up and condensation by allowing natural ventilation of the roof space through the Au.diVent eaves.

Caribbean Park designed by Peter Ryan Architects creatively used Au diSlat for this world-class precinct at Caribbean Park which includes office space, retail, dining and lifestyle facilities set over 185 hectares of parkland. The premium new office development incorporated an innovative linear design using Atkar’s Au.diSlat made from solid Tasmanian Oak timber. The design was fully customised in varying slat widths to create the stunning bespoke result.

In conjunction with Warren & Mahoney Architects and Marshall Day Acoustics, Asona developed a solution that would work in seamlessly with the deconstructed interior design of the Les Mills flagship sports gym at Britomart. Atkar Au diSlot was selected to be used along the walls for noise reduction and impact resistance. These perforated slot wall panels were sprayed in primary yellow and cool grey and had to navigate around difficult corners and encompass large public areas pulling the interior design together as a cohesive whole.
