Resort-Style Wet Areas Built to Last at The Botanic Retirement Village

This $600m development offers 164 villas and 239 apartments for independent living, alongside an aged care home with 73 care suites, including 12 memory care suites. The clubhouse and pool house play a crucial role in creating a luxurious and functional environment for its residents. This is where a proven solution was required to withstand the rigours of a high use environment whilst maintaining durability with a premium finish.

For the critical waterproofing component, ARDEX supplied ARDEX WPM 002, a fibre-reinforced liquid waterproofing membrane built on advanced acrylic polymers. This product was specified for its durability and long-term proven waterproofing protection in demanding areas. Over this, ARDEX X 18 was specified, which is a polymer-fortified, fibre-reinforced cement-based tile adhesive. This product was specified due to the strong, flexible bond needed where tiles are exposed to sustained moisture and heavy foot traffic. To achieve an aesthetically pleasing result, ARDEX FG 8 grout was specified due to its ARDEX Grout Shield technology which provides long-term colour stability and mould resistance alongside a smooth, professional finish in both wet and dry areas. ARDEX DS 70 was used for its acoustic properties in the apartment areas coupled with ARDEX WPM 750 for the ultimate protection in waterproofing.

Asian Tilers carried out the installation in the Apartments and Tomba Tiling Ltd carried out the complete installation across the clubhouse and pool house.

"Tomba Tiling played a crucial role in bringing the vision of The Botanic Retirement Village to life," says Ivana Maksimovska Taskov of Tomba Tiling. "Working in such a well-organised and supportive environment made it a pleasure for our team to deliver precise and high-quality installations. Our attention to detail has resulted in luxurious, durable finishes that residents will enjoy for years to come."

Specify with confidence. ARDEX offers fully integrated waterproofing and tiling systems, supported by local technical expertise and project-specific specification guidance for residential and commercial wet areas.
