VENT Wall Cavity Battens create a 20mm cavity, providing a secondary means of weather resistance by separating the cladding from the external wall framing, as well as providing an unobstructed path for occasional ingress of water that may get past the external skin to drain to the exterior of the building. Also suitable for use in the roof cavity.
The VENT Wall Cavity Batten has been appraised for use as a non-structural cavity batten for use with non-structural wall cladding systems on timber framed buildings with the following scope:
Note: The VENT Wall Cavity Batten can also be used on buildings subject to specific weathertightness design. Weathertightness design and detailing of these installations is the responsibility of the designer and is outside the scope of the BRANZ Appraisal.
The VENT Wall Cavity Batten if designed, used and installed and maintained in accordance with the statements and conditions specified in the VENT technical documentation and BRANZ Appraisal 1099, will meet or contribute to meeting the following provisions of the NZBC:
The VENT VB20 has been used as a vented roof batten over a thousand of residential and commercial projects across New Zealand since 2015. Following growing demand from architects and installers to use the batten in wall applications, VENT has now had the VB20 BRANZ appraised for use as a wall cavity batten.
VENT provide complete passive ventilation systems that ensure healthy homes free from internal moisture and condensation.
