The Rothoblaas Clima Control 80 membrane is designed for use as an internal air and vapour control layer in timber-framed or mass timber buildings.

It is suitable for application in:

• high wind zones
• very high and extra high seismic areas
• corrosion zones C and D

Clima Control 80 offers robust airtightness, dynamic vapour control, and compliance with Passive House and NZBC performance expectations for internal moisture management and energy efficiency.

• Compatible substrates: Timber framing, CLT, LVL, and other engineered wood products.
• Compatible insulation systems: Especially effective in internal insulation retrofits, including mineral wool, wood fibre, and other vapour-open or semi-open insulation types.
• Chemical Compatibility: No VOC emissions, safe for indoor air quality and compatible with most common construction adhesives and tapes.
• System integration: Can be used in Passive House and airtight building systems, and is compatible with WUFI hygrothermal modelling.

• Interior use only: Must be installed on the internal side of the building envelope. It is not UV-stable for prolonged direct exposure; tolerates up to 2 weeks of indirect UV.
• Dry substrate required. The application surface must be dry, clean and free of dust or grease to ensure adhesion and membrane integrity.
• Mechanical fastening required: Must be fixed with mechanical fasteners and sealed with nail sealing points to maintain airtightness.

Clima Control 80 membrane is suitable for use as an Alternative Solution under the NZ Building Code. When installed in accordance with manufacturer guidance and integrated into a compliant building envelope system, Clima Control 80 can support performance-based compliance with the following NZBC clauses:

• Clause B2 (Durability) When installed in protected internal locations and maintained according to manufacturer guidance, the membrane is expected to meet the minimum durability requirements of 15 years for building envelope components.
• Clause E3.3.1 (Internal Moisture): the membrane regulates vapour and diffusion and prevents interstitial condensation within wall and roof assemblies, contributing to the control of moisture and protection of building elements from dampness.
• Clause H1.3.1(a) and H1.3.2E (Energy Efficiency): Its high airtightness and dynamic vapour control properties help limit uncontrolled airflow and improve thermal envelope performance, supporting energy-efficient design outcomes.
