Ecodan Hot Water Heat Pump for Radiator Central Heating – Residential
Description

Mitsubishi Electric Ecodan Hot Water Heat Pumps are designed for comprehensive home heating solutions, with the ability to cover both hot water needs and efficient radiator room heating through a single system. As traditional gas and diesel central heating systems face rising operational costs, the Ecodan range presents an efficient and low emission alternative with its air-to-water heat pump technology. With radiators typically operated at higher temperatures of 45°C - 55°C (compared to underfloor heating) a Coefficient of Performance (COP) of  3.0*1 can be achieved in winter conditions, providing an energy efficient alternative compared to traditional heating methods such as gas/diesel boilers and electric element heating.

Using an Ecodan Hot Water Heat Pump for central heating through radiators is the ideal solution for responsive heating that can be mixed and matched to each room. Quick to heat up as well as turn down or off, radiator heating is easy to control and manage room by room and provides whole home comfort from one system. With a wide variety of style, sizes and colours to choose from it can be as bold or pared back as needed to reflect your interior design aesthetic.

If the client has a requirement for domestic hot water too, a hot water cylinder can be added to the system while still utilising one outdoor unit.

Built-in smart energy monitoring allows for simple, tailored control

On-screen power usage information means you have the visibility and freedom to efficiently manage your overall hot water power consumption. The daily and weekly timers let you take advantage of off-peak tariffs and save even more on your power bills. The hot water central heating system is available with 2-Zone Control which allows you to set the temperature for radiators and underfloor heating simultaneously.

*1 Applicable to PUZ-WM60VAA-BS under normal heating conditions at outdoor temp: 7°CDB / 6°CWB, outlet water temp 55°C, inlet water temp 50°C as tested to BS EN14511.

Scope of Use

Ecodan Hot Water Heat Pumps can be used as a heat source for the production of hot water in hydronic central heating systems such as underfloor circuits and radiators as well as the production of domestic hot water.

Ecodan Hot Water Heat Pumps can be retrofitted to existing hydronic radiator heating systems, either replacing old gas/diesel/biofuel boiler systems or interlocking with them to provide homeowners with a flexible choice in heating energy sources. It is recommended a buffer tank be used in conjunction with the Ecodan Hot Water Heat Pump in radiator applications.

Ecodan Hot Water Heat Pumps can be used for domestic hot water production only.

Limitations on Use
  • The system contains an indoor and outdoor component, so internal space is required; the indoor unit is not IP rated.
  • Ecodan Hydrobox Systems provide a primary treated water supply and must be separated from domestic hot water sources via a heat exchanger, i.e. coiled (indirect) cylinder or appropriately engineered plate heat exchanger.
  • It is recommended that heat load calculations are completed to ensure the system has adequate capacity for the installation. Mitsubishi Electric has a team ready to assist with calculations and design plans.
