Metro Hinged and Pivot Glass Doors are suitable for residential, commercial, retail, hospitality, office and institutional projects.

The glass thickness, door dimensions, hardware and closing mechanism must be selected for the door weight, frequency of use and intended internal or external location.

• Door dimensions and weight must remain within the capacity of the selected hinges, patch fittings, floor springs or closers.
• Most standard patch fittings and door rails are designed for 10mm or 12mm monolithic toughened safety glass.
• Special fittings may be required for 15mm or 19mm glass.
• Most standard patch fittings are not suitable for toughened laminated structural glass unless specifically confirmed.
• Floor springs must be selected for the door width, weight and required opening force.
• Standard floor springs are generally limited to doors weighing up to approximately 100kg, while selected heavy-duty systems may accommodate doors up to approximately 300kg. Final capacity must be confirmed for the selected hardware.
• Selected hinges are generally limited to internal doors up to approximately 100kg and 1000mm wide.
• The Ozone hydraulic patch fitting is intended for selected internal doors up to 1000mm wide, using 8mm to 12mm TempaFloat™ Toughened Safety Glass and a maximum door weight of 100kg.
• Hardware designated for internal use must not be installed externally.
• Exterior doors require specific consideration of wind pressure, water entry, air leakage and environmental exposure.
• Frameless glass doors are not inherently fire-rated, weathertight, acoustic or thermally rated.
• The supporting floor, ceiling and adjacent construction must be suitable for the selected fixings and transferred loads.
• Accessibility, clear-opening width, opening force, manifestation and escape-route requirements must be addressed by the project designer.
• Final glass, hardware, finish and system suitability must be confirmed with Metro before specification

When correctly selected, designed, manufactured and installed, Metro Hinged and Pivot Glass Doors comply with or can contribute to compliance with relevant provisions of the New Zealand Building Code, including:

Compliance must be assessed for the complete door assembly, including the glass, patch fittings, hinges, pivots, closers, locks, rails, seals, supporting substrates and installation.

A standard frameless glass door must not be represented as fire-rated, weathertight, acoustic or thermally rated unless the complete assembly has evidence supporting that performance.

• Safety glass is manufactured in accordance with AS/NZS 2208.
• Glass selection and installation are undertaken with reference to NZS 4223.
• Door capacity depends on the glass thickness, dimensions, weight and selected hardware.
• Floor springs are available in different capacities and opening force ratings.
• Hold open and non hold open closer options are available.
• Selected hydraulic fittings provide adjustable closing control without a conventional recessed floor spring.
• 316 stainless steel patch fittings are available for selected internal and external applications.
• Overall performance depends on the complete glass, hardware, fixing and supporting system.

Warranty & Maintenance

• Warranty coverage is subject to Metro’s applicable glass-door and hardware warranty terms.
• Refer to the attached Metro Performance Glass warranty documentation for coverage, warranty periods, exclusions and claim requirements.
• Maintain in accordance with the attached Metro Performance Glass glass-care and hardware maintenance guides.
• Regularly inspect hinges, pivots, patch fittings, floor springs, closers, locks and fixing points.
• Maintain and adjust closer speeds and hold-open functions in accordance with the hardware manufacturer’s instructions.
• Keep floor spring boxes and drainage areas clear and dry.
• Do not allow doors to swing beyond the hardware’s designed opening range.
• Replace worn seals, guides, stops and hardware components promptly.
• Do not drill, cut or modify toughened glass after manufacture.
