Plytech is excited to announce that Plytech Green’s Birch Elite, Birch Décor Oak, and Birch Décor Walnut uncoated panels are now Declare Red List Free.

Declare Red List Free is a type of environmental certification and product transparency program that serves as a nutrition label for building materials. The program is designed to identify building materials that are free from harmful chemicals and materials, known as Red List ingredients which can have a negative impact on people’s health and the environment.

The Red List Free label shows that the ingredients used in making the Birch Elite, Birch Décor Oak, and Birch Décor Walnut have been fully disclosed and do not contain any harmful chemicals or materials listed on the Red List such as lead, mercury, asbestos, and formaldehyde.

Plytech Green panels are made by Latvijas Finieris at mills in Latvia and Estonia. They use logs from Latvia and Lithuania, which are all members of the European Union. The panels are created using only renewable energy, and they are put together with a glue made from lignin.

Lignin is a bio-based substance produced by Stora Enso a global leader in renewable solutions in packaging, biomaterials, wooden construction and paper. The panels are manufactured using a unique process that combines natural fibres with a specially-formulated bio-resin derived from renewable resources such as corn starch.
