Stylish, Low Profile Ventilation Design by Solatube

Whitby Lakes is a state-of-the-art retirement resort situated in the Wellington area. The apartments and villas at Whitby Lakes have been carefully designed to provide residents with all the conveniences they had in their family home and much more.

The architect, Pacific Environments NZ, wanted an attractive way to get natural light and ventilation to bathrooms and light up dull areas in the villas, such as the entry foyers and kitchens. Retired people tend to use their home environment for a large part of the day, so it made sense to light spaces with daylight where possible. This reduces the need for artificial lighting.

A Solatube Daylighting System with a Ventilation Add-On Kit and Light Kit was installed in each ensuite and bathroom. These provide natural light during the day, standard lighting at night, and ventilation to extract moisture. These solutions are all housed in one attractive ceiling fitting.

Solatube Daylighting Systems with Light Kits were also used in dull areas to flood the area with natural light during the day. A standard light is also included in the fitting for night time use.

“We have worked with Hometech and the Solatube Daylighting System product on a number of projects," says Graeme Smith, Tracer Construction Ltd. "The product was a perfect solution for the Whitby Lakes retirement complex.”
