When Ryman Healthcare needed a large number of custom made planters, GRC NZ Ltd were the first and only port of call.
This project, the upgrading of a large communal garden area, required ornate shaped planter boxes in two different sizes and urns to be manufactured. The design needed the rounded edge profiles to tie in the planters with the decorative mouldings on the main building structure.
After a quick shop drawing process to agree on the shapes and sizes, GRC NZ made up moulds for each design, manufactured the planters with glassfibre reinforced concrete and then delivered and installed the planters on site.
These planter boxes (troughs) were 2000 x 600 x 600mm and 1400 x 450 x 450mm, but GRC can manufacture troughs in any size. While giving the natural concrete aesthetic, these planters weighed only ~60kg each yet are 70mpa strong. This means they will far outlast standard garden centre fiberglass boxes.
The urns had to have a fixing system incorporated in them to attach them safely to the pillars. GRC were quick to design this for the client.
